Mojave Desert The Mojave Desert is a very dry area of the western United States. The desert covers a large part of southern California and parts of Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. Even though the desert is very dry and hot, many different kinds of plants are able to live there, especially wildflowers and cactuses. Many animals live in the Mojave Desert too, such as lizards, tortoises, rabbits, snakes, scorpions, and foxes.
