A hound is a type of dog used in hunting. There are different kinds of hounds but they usually have short hair and long ears that hang down. Nowadays, many people have hounds just as pets.
Hounds were often used in an event called a fox hunt, especially in England. Many hounds would run after one fox, and riders on horses would follow them, riding very fast. There are still fox hunts, but not so many as in the past.
