Venus is a large, round object out in space. Like Earth, it is a planet that travels around the sun. Venus is much hotter than Earth, though, because it is closer to the sun than Earth. There are thick clouds around Venus all the time. A lot of light from the sun hits these clouds and bounces away, like light on a mirror. This light makes Venus look very bright in the sky.
We can often see Venus from Earth shining like a big star in the night sky.
