Magma is a hot liquid made of melted rocks. Magma rises from deep in the earth and then goes up through a special kind of mountain until it reaches the top. A mountain like this is called a volcano. If the magma spills out of the volcano, it is not called magma anymore. It is called lava.
When magma becomes cool inside of a volcano, a lot of interesting rocks can be made. One type of rock made from magma is granite. It is an important rock that people use in building things.
