One important thing about metals is that they let heat and electricity pass through them easily. That's why wires for electricity have metal inside them. Also, metals that we see every day are usually hard, but they can be heated to become liquid or they can be pressed to changed their shape.
It takes a lot of metal to make a car, but some parts of a car are made of hard plastic now.
