Your intestines are part of your body. Your intestines are in the lower part of your body below your stomach. You have both a small intestine and a large intestine. Both of these are used for breaking down food so that your body can use it. Your mouth and your stomach start this process of breaking down food, and your intestines finish it.
Your intestines are actually one long tube, but the part called the "small intestine" is narrow and curls around and around in your belly. Your large intestine is wider and goes around just once.Food travels from your stomach through something called the "duodenum" and then into your small intestine. When the small intestine is finished with its job, the food goes into your large intestine.
