definition: |
If a person has epilepsy, they have a problem with their nervous system. The nervous system is the system inside the body that includes the brain and the nerves that go through the spine and out to the rest of the body. A person with epilepsy does not have a problem using their brain for thinking, but sometimes the brain sends out incorrect signals to the body, and then their body starts to shake and move in ways they cannot control. This doesn't last a long time, but it is sometimes severe and very terrible to the person who has this condition. Often, after this kind of thing happens, the person becomes unconscious.
Drugs to treat epilepsy are quite effective. |
